Organize Your Library Stuff
Who here loves their local library? Anybody? Anybody?
So as you probably know, I use my local library. A LOT. As in, my family has a scheduled day of the week that we go. (It used to be a scheduled time, but I decided I didn’t need to be so, what’s the word….Psycho? about it.)
Anyhow, every week we check out new books, movies, and CDs for our entertaining pleasure. With a 7-year old daughter who LOVES having her own card and checking out her OWN stuff, I have discovered that it is really important to be organized with what we borrow. (I’m sure y’all can imagine “how” I made that discovery….NO movie is worth the fines you pay when you lose something!)
So, here’s what I do:
1. First of all, I organize my “wish list”. Any book I hear about or want to read, I keep track of it. Movies and music I want to borrow I put on the wish list on my library’s website. I keep my wish list online at www.goodreads.com.
2. When we check the items out, they go on this special bookshelf in our home.
3. Then, of course, we read the books, watch the movies, listen to the music, etc. You know the drill. As soon as we are done with the item, we put them in my handy-dandy reusable bag. We have 6 chairs at our kitchen table, but only 4 family members, so this bag gets one of the extra chairs. This way my daughter can reach it and put her used stuff away herself.
Okay, so maybe it’s not THAT simple. I do, for example, look through the bag before we go and double check that everything is in there that should be. But really, it’s ALMOST that simple!
