Book Review: The Children You Want
I’ve just today finished reading every word of your book, The Children You Want with the Kids You Have. I stand amazed–there’s a ton of wisdom between those covers! In fact, I’ve rarely read so much good common sense with such practical application in one volume.
You are to be congratulated, Marie, on a truly remarkable book. I’m sure it’s doing much good–and will continue to do so–among your readers. It’s definitely something greatly needed in today’s casual, sloppy, irresponsible, non-commital world.
“Marie Ricks really hit home with her The Children You Want with the Kids you Have book! I have young kids and always hear people with older kids complaining about how they can’t get their kids to do…homework, clean up, chores… and the list goes on and on! I then would start to worry about my kids! They love doing all that right now so “How do I keep them working when they are older?” Marie Ricks helps us out with this!
I loved this book! (My kids probably won’t love it….) I LOVE how Marie lists the things that your children should do at certain ages. She has a “Master Plan” for ages 2-6, 6-12, 12-18. This gives you an idea of what to expect from your children and how to implement it. Marie also lists “Summertime Chores” that your children should get in the habit of doing and learning. I love how she walks you through different scenarios and helps you figure out what you should say. There is SO much in this book! I love it and will keep in handy so that I can refer to it often. I recommend this book 100%! Read full review…

The first day The Children You Want with the Kids You Have appeared on Deseret Bookstore shelves, a good friend called to say that she had seen the book. It was a moment to be remembered. ~Marie
